Dumpster Program

In addition to the spring and fall clean up Program, South Salt Lake City will provide a dumpster to a resident's home upon request, There is a $25.00 fee. You are allowed the dumpster for a 48 hour period. This is a year-round program subject to the same rules and regulations as the regular Clean-up Program. The dumpsters may be used for yard debris (tree limbs, shrubbery, grass clippings, etc.) as well as small household items including appliances, and furniture.

Items that are not acceptable in the dumpster are toxic, hazardous or flammable materials, pesticides, herbicides, solvents, gasoline, motor oil, paints, batteries and tires. Fifty-five gallon drums will not be accepted unless the tops have been removed or the drum cut in half. Refrigerators, freezers, and central air units will not be accepted unless the FREON has been removed. This must be done by a licensed technician and the driver must be furnished with a copy of the receipt.

Dumpsters can only be placed on private property. Though they are intended for private use, dumpsters can be used for neighborhood cleanup projects as well. Dumpsters will be scheduled for delivery between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Due to the popularity of the program, availability of the dumpsters varies throughout the year. Normally you will need to give at least 24 hours notice to schedule a dumpster, however from spring through early fall you may want to schedule 1 to 2 weeks in advance.

Once your dumpster has been scheduled, you will need to come to City Hall at 220 East Morris Ave to complete an agreement, and describing where the dumpster should be placed. At that time you will be required to pay the $25 fee payable to South Salt Lake City.
