Before placing items at the curbside for clean-up, keep in mind: Please use proper disposal methods. Much of the culinary (drinking) water used in this valley is pumped for aquifers found beneath the earth’s surface. Aquifers are replenished by the water that seeps through the ground moving through tiny spaces in rocks and among soil particles. Before dumping or throwing anything on the ground, think, ‘Do I want this to seep through the ground with the water I might drink? Would I want to see this in my drinking glass?”
Equally important is protecting the storm water system. The storm water system channels rain and snow melt into gutters, which drain into streams and rivers. When storm water is polluted, natural waterways are also polluted.
