In an effort to make visiting the South Salt Lake parks a more enjoyable experience for all visitors, the South Salt Lake Police Department is beginning a new program called the Safe Parks Project. The aim of this program is to take a proactive approach to reducing criminal activity in our city parks, and to work with the community to gather information about suspicious activity. The local parks will be a continual focus of increased proactive patrol by the police department, but park visitors are also asked to contact police dispatch anytime they see any suspicious or criminal activity occurring in a park.

There will be signs placed in each park for the Safe Parks Project as a reminder to report anything questionable. The police department is also working to make the environment of the parks less conducive to criminal activity by clearing overgrown landscaping, increasing lighting, and decreasing the chance of hiding spots. If you would like to report suspicious activity in a South Salt Lake park, please call police dispatch at 840-4000.
