2008 Night Out Against Crime Logo
Come on out for Night Out Against Crime!

This year's South Salt Lake Night Out Against Crime will be held on August 4th at Granite High School. Night Out Against Crime is a community event where residents can learn about crime prevention, safety and community services while getting to know members of the police department, other city departments, as well as other city residents.  Last year’s event was a great success; there were booths, demonstrations, helicopter rides, face painting, food, games and McGruff the Crime Dog even showed up!  This year’s event is shaping up to be even better, with even more great things to see and do.  There will be something for everyone, from kids to seniors, so bring the whole family and make a night of it!  Click here for a flyer.

Local Students have "Lunch with the Chief"

As part of the South Salt Lake Police Department's continued focus on youth in our community, Chief Chris Snyder has started a monthly program known as "Lunch with the Chief." The lunches allow Chief Snyder and members of the police department an opportunity for positive interaction with the kids. Teachers are asked to identify students who are performing well in school and practicing good "citizenship." In addition to having lunch, students are presented with a certificate of appreciation from the police department. The lunches are held at Hartvigsen School and Woodrow Wilson Elementary. Chief Snyder hopes to offer the program to all interested South Salt Lake schools.
