Effective Monday, July 7, 2008 the hours for the Police Department Records Division, Evidence and Administrative Offices will be changing.
The lobby of the police department and the Records Division will operate Monday through Thursday from 7:00am to 6:00pm, closed Friday.
The Evidence Division will operate Monday through Thursday from 8:00am to 6:00pm, closed Friday.
The Administrative offices will operate Monday through Thursday from 8:00am to 6:00pm, closed Friday.

Department Operational Structure |
The South Salt Lake Police Department is organized into two bureaus: Administrative Services and Operations. Each bureau is overseen by a Captain who reports directly to the Chief of Police.
The Administrative Services Bureau includes Animal Services, Grant Administration, Training, Event Coordination, Fleet Services, and Crossing Guards. It also includes the Community Resources Division.
- The Community Resources Division includes the Crime Prevention Unit, Street Crimes Unit, Crime Analysis, School Resources and Code Enforcement. The Crime Prevention Unit focuses on Crime Free Multi-Housing, Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design, Neighborhood Watch and Business Watch. The Street Crimes Unit is tasked with street level narcotics interdiction. School Resources function within the local schools, and include the DARE and GREAT programs. This division is committed to proactive, long-term problem solving of nuisance areas within our community.
The Operations Bureau includes Victim Advocates, Evidence, Crime Scene Investigation, and Police Chaplains. It also includes two divisions: Patrol and Investigations.
- The Patrol Division handles Uniformed Patrol, Traffic, and K9, Major Accident Investigations, and Bicycle Patrol also function in this division.
- The Investigations Division consists of general investigations, the SWAT Team and Hostage Negotiations.
