spraySince the first day this Fire Department was created Fire Prevention/Safety has been the number one priority.  We care a lot about the citizens and business with our main focus on the schools and all of the kids that preside in our City.  We visit the schools regularly to be a mentor to the kids.  We read books with them, play on the playground and most of all we enjoy our Fire Prevention assemblies during Fire Prevention week. Being with the children is our favorite part of the job.

Make sure that you check and test your smoke detectors at least twice a year and always remember to change the 9 volt battery at daylight savings time. Performing fire escape drills is recommended several times throughout the year. You should always have a working smoke detector mounted in each bedroom and in the common hallway.  There should be at least one smoke detector and one carbon monoxide detector located on each floor including the basement. Carbon monoxide detectors are another life safety factor that should also be considered in your home.

Fire extinguishers are another item that is also very important to have in your house, garage, car and boat. Fire extinguishers should be mounted on the wall on every floor and in the garage. You should always have at least one fire extinguisher in the home available to all family members.

If you have any questions about SAFETY CONCERNS or where to mount smoke detectors or extinguishers please feel free to contact your local fire station and anyone on duty will be able to assist you with your FIRE SAFETY needs.
