ChiefWelcome to the City of South Salt Lake. I am Fire Chief Steven F. Foote.

The Fire Department plays a critical part in the safety and well being of our residents and businesses. We are dedicated to providing the most professional and competent emergency medical, fire and rescue services as well as education programs for our youth. I am very proud of my fire personnel for their support and dedication to the City.

 

I joined the South Salt Lake Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter in June of 1979. I was appointed full time on July 15, 1980 which began my 25 years of service to the community. In 1992 I was promoted to Lieutenant and later to Captain in1996. In April 1998 I was appointed Fire Chief. Since my responsibility as Chief began, I have successfully implemented a 33% increase in fire protection services to the newly incorporated area of South Salt Lake. In 2000 the department began providing paramedic service and we have dramatically enhanced the department’s special operations divisions including: hazardous materials, high angle and confined space rescue teams. We have also completely modernized the department’s apparatus. I have served as Chairman of the Valley Emergency Communications Center (VECC) Fire Users Committee, the VECC Board of Operations and Second Vice President of the Utah State Fire Chief’s Association. I am the Communications and Wireless Technology Representative for the State Fire Chiefs and serve on the Granite Education Foundation Organization Committee.

 

We have 3 main goals in our South Salt Lake Fire Department. They are:

  1. Safety to our firefighters, citizens and businesses.
  2. Customer Service to our citizens and businesses.
  3. Be nice!

 I want to thank you all for your support to our department. We appreciate the love and concern shown to us on a daily basis. We love what we do and are happy to provide the best care possible. ChiefWelcome to the City of South Salt Lake. I am Deputy Fire Chief Kevin L. Bowman.

I am proud to serve the residents of South Salt Lake as the Deputy Fire Chief over Fire and Medical Operations. I joined the South Salt Lake Fire Department in March of 1980 as a Volunteer Firefighter. In December of 1980 I was hired full-time and worked up through the ranks until my promotion in 2000 when I was appointed to the office of Deputy Fire Chief. I have proudly served for 26 rewarding years and hope to continue for many more.

Along with overseeing the day to day operations of the Fire Department, I am currently serving as a Chairman of the Valley Emergency Communications Center (VECC) Fire Users Committee and the Metro Fire Users Committee. I am on the South Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce Board of Governors and serve on the Public Relations/Public Affairs Committee and the Granite Education Committee.

I am proud to say that I was born and raised in this wonderful City of South Salt Lake and look forward to going to work each day to serve the fine residents and business owners of this community.
