POLICE DEPARTMENT

Officer David Romrell was tragically killed in the line of duty on Saturday, November 24, 2018, when he was struck by a vehicle driven by suspects fleeing a reported burglary. Officer Romrell was a Marine Corp veteran, who served several tours before joining the South Salt Lake Police Department. Officer Romrell was kind and professional, and treated everyone with respect. He devoted his entire adult life to serving his country and the community, and made a lasting impact on all who had the fortune to know him.

Public Safety Funeral Attendee Information

Public safety members attending the funeral service at the Maverik Center who are joining the procession to the graveside service are asked to approach the venue from 3500 South to northbound on Decker Lake Drive (2200 West).

Public safety members attending the funeral service at the Maverik Center who are NOT joining the procession to the graveside service are asked to approach the venue from 3100 South and park in the general public parking lots in the area of Decker Lake Drive (2200 West).

 Fire/EMS apparatus should approach the Maverik Center from 3100 South to southbound Decker Lake Drive (2200 West).

 Public safety members traveling from out of the area are encouraged to contact Deputy Chief Scott Buchanan (West Valley City Police Department) with any questions or needs.  Deputy Chief Buchanan is the designated funeral  liaison officer for out of area public safety members and is available 24/7 to provide information on lodging, transportation, food and other area information, facilitate connections to funeral detail staff and answer questions about the service or associated protocols.

Property Check Request

As calls for service allow, officers will stop by to check your property, either visually as they drive by or physically by walking around the perimeter and checking doors and windows. Should a problem arise, we will contact you or another responsible party via the contact information you provide on this form.

Notice of Unclaimed Property

The South Salt Lake Police Department currently holds various unclaimed proeprties in our evidence room. They include bicycles, cash, guns, computer equipment, cell phones, jewelry, tools, and other miscellaneous items. If you believe we currently have property belonging to you, please contact us in person or at 801-412-3665. Ownership must be proven in the form of receipts and/or detailed description.

Unclaimed property will be auctioned or destroyed on Friday, July 20, 2018.
