Council/Mayor Form of Government

The City of South Salt Lake is set up under the Council/Mayor form of government. This means that the legislative and executive functions of our city government are separate. The city council with its seven members operates as the legislative branch, and has the authority to establish the city budget and city ordinances. The Mayor is the chief executive and administrative officer of the city, and has the power to carry out legislative policies as acts of administration.
